National Conference

Events



Members have access to every San Antonio Professional event. Each year, our main events include our Annual Board Retreat, Meet the Pros, social and networking events, a Media Workshop, and our awards ceremony at the end of each year.

Annual Board retreat
This event will take place on July 17, 2010. All members are welcome to join us as we make future plans and find new ways to celebrate “The Member.” Contact President Salwa Lanford for more information.

Meet the Pros
Hosted in October, Meet the Pros is an opportunity for our chapter to reach out to students in the San Antonio area. Professionals from all areas of communications will showcase their special talents for students. We are always looking for professionals who can bring their expertise to our event.

Social Events
This year, we will focus on “The Member’s AWC Experience”. We will host small group social and networking opportunities as well as our signature Holiday Party. At these times, we welcome new ideas and want to ask this question: What do YOU want out of AWC? Which ideas are most important to YOU? Remember, this organization is about how you can advance. Let’s make an impact on each and every one of our members!

31st Annual Awards Banquet
Held in June, the end-of-the year Awards Banquet is our biggest event of the year. We celebrate the following awards: The AWC Maggie Cousins Award, Edna McGaffey Media Excellence Award, Harriet Ross Individual Achievemnt Award, Education Award, Professional Acheivement Award, Public Endeavor Award, the Volunteer Service Award, and national Clarion Awards. Throughout the year, we encourage members to think of someone they know in the community who stands out in one of these categories. Nomination forms will be posted closer to the date. If you would like to nominate in advance, please contact President Salwa Lanford. National Clarion Award winners are also recognized during the Annual Awards Banquet.
