The Opportunity

The PR team hubs a large piece of our corporate storytelling efforts. This is where product news, executive points of view and ongoing industry narratives are refined and amplified to target publics. We are looking for the next great addition to this team. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, a creative thinker and someone with a passion for media relations. The candidate should have a keen sense of which reporters in the tech media landscape drive the narrative, how to reach and influence them, a track record of securing strong coverage and proven success with managing baseline programs.

JOB COMPLEXITY: Determines appropriate type of contact for the media, industry analysts, key influencers and vendors. Influences and improves influencers’ view of the company. Develops and manages strategic communication programs that incorporate business strategy, product direction and market position. Collaborates with marketing and public relations departments to ensure the most effective communication programs and strategies. Tracks and updates the most current company information and metrics to ensure that the most updated information is presented. Regularly provides proactive ideas on how to drive awareness of the company’s mission, solutions portfolio and competitive differentiators. Provides work assistance to junior public relations specialists.

In a typical day, you will:

  • Communicate with business and tech media, and other key influencers to ensure that the company maintains a favorable position.
  • Develop and manage strategic communication programs that incorporate business strategy, product direction, and market position; work with marketing and PR to properly distribute that information.
  • Coordinate with PR agency on strategy and tactical execution of media programs.
  • Develop press releases, media pitches and other external comms focused collateral.
  • Manage ongoing media measurement and analytics program.
  • Develop daily, weekly and announcement specific coverage reports.

Qualifications

JOB COMPLEXITY: Determines appropriate type of contact for media, industry analysts, key influencers and vendors. Influences and improves influencers’ view of the company. Develops strategic communication programs for solution teams and other key initiatives that incorporate business strategy, product direction, and market position. Manages baseline activities including coverage monitoring and awards programs. Researches and develops abstracts for speaking and award submissions for the company. Monitors industry, competitor and company media coverage to respond to, and develop, key media relationships. Collaborates with the public relations team and business units to develop the most effective communications strategy for assigned solutions teams and other key initiatives. Works with agency team to create and update database on key influencers to track.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Seamlessly manages all baseline programs. Provides strong tactical and strategic support to senior team members on key projects and initiatives. Manages mildly complex programs with no supervision. Ability to take on more complex tasks such as a product press releases and driving more strategic projects and events. Contributes proactive ideas to help achieve program goals.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business or marketing. 2-4 years of experience in public relations is required.
